Neuropathic pain as independent predictor of worse quality of life in patients with diabetic neuropathy

Background/Aim. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus in general population is constantly increasing. On the other hand, number diabetic patients with neuropathic pain large. aim study was to examine influence on quality life (QoL) sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSPN) who did not have any complication or significant comorbidity. Methods. A total 32 DSPN and definitive were compared without pain. respondents matched according age, gender, duration illness. following scales used: Pain Detect Questionnaire, Leeds Assessment Neuropathic Symptoms Signs, Douleur Neuropathique EN 4 Questions, Hamilton depression anxiety rating scales, Neuropathy Impairment Score Lower Limb (NIS-LL), Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36). Results. Patients had significantly more severe measured NIS-LL (p < 0.01).
